Typically Hollywood(films etc) is the most cliched unrealistic place in the universe. eg. the young specky boy next door comes through some traumatic adventure and saves the girl who usually dates the big dumb high school ‘jock’ eg toy soldiers/spiderman, and then they get together (well not in spiderman - WTF?).

We all know from being alive that this is never the case in real life, mostly. But surely sometimes people have things happen to them which seems almost like it could be a movie, or conversly have any Dopers had things happen to them which have happened in movies (either before or after).

I doubt many people have become genetically modified into a spiderman etc. but there must be some interesting examples of life imitating art or vica versa. I can’t say i’ve ever had any (none that spring to mind) but i’m sure it would be interesting to hear of people who have.

A couple years after I saw _Stand By Me_, a friend of mine and I were walking across a railroad bridge, stepping gingerly over each tie. We were almost halfway across when we heard a train approaching, and then it pulled around the corner ahead of us, much closer than we expected. We quickly shuffled back to the side we started from and jumped off to the side.

It wasn’t _nearly_ as close a thing as it was in _Stand By Me_, but it was pretty freaky anyway.
