A number of posts from 1999 have mysteriously popped to the top of Comments on Cecil’s Column without actually being replied to. The ones I checked had CA himself as the most recent poster. Are these a function of Cece’s new status as Perfect Master, the porniest-sounding status in the history of the SDMB? Or is it just weird script at work?

Actually, it’s a matter of a simple process:
A) Troll signs up for board.
B) Troll posts idiotic comments in several really old threads as a way of bringing attention to itself.
C) Troll is banned, and all of his posts deleted so as to stop it from getting its’ jollies.
D) Threads are left hanging, because a troll post bumped them, but since the troll post has been deleted, it looks like they spontaneously re-appeared.
And as long as we’re talking about things returning from the dead, for my next trick, I’ll explain how the Resurrection was accomplished with two tablecloths and a Zippo lighter…

Thanks, I was just wondering this myself, and came looking for the answer. I suspect you’ll have a rash of people asking this question. It might help if the subject line actually referenced the effect, and not the curiously anomalous quote of a song lyric.
Just a suggestion.
