# When installing thermostats, follow the directions!

It may say “tape wires out of work area” and you may think “WTF, the tape is all the way over there and I’m just drilling two holes”, but if a wire touches your drill, it’ll spark and you’ll be left with a non-functional furnace, swearing for an hour as you test things and take it apart and (if you’re lucky) discovering that you’ve blowing an automotive-type fuse which you’ll spend a half hour driving around at 1 in the morning to find a gas station that sells the large blade-style fuses in 3amps so you can get the furnace running and not freeze overnight.

So take 10 seconds to find the tape and tape things up already. :smack:
