When is it time to let your pet go

It’s not “better” but it’s “less bad”. When we had our cat put to sleep, the vet came to the house. Pete hated going to the vet in any case; this way we were able to pet him, and offer him his favorite treats (not that he was EATING them at that point…). We got to stroke him as he dozed off that last time. I think there are a fair number of vets who will make house calls in that situation - the vet who came said that was the only type of house call they made.

For the OP: Cramer’s increasing nippiness may be age related, but it may also be caused by the fact that the poor puppy is in pain all the time :(.

Yeah, she was already at the vet, because we thought she had a toothache. It was a huge shock to learn she was near death.

I’d like to say thank you all the folk who commented in me thread. It really helped me with the shared love and pain of letting a 4 legged family member go. My Cramer today suffers no more but the silence at home deafening. The 4500 + good days are worth every second the toughs one ahead. I have wonderful memories of how lucky I am and the sense of love & care as Cramer left with my wife and I with him till he was gone……Again Thank You to all! & My Veterinarian was beyond wonderful!

I am very sorry for your loss.

Yes. We don’t get to have the joy without the pain. But the joy is worth it.

And I’m sure that Cramer had lots of joy.
