# When the subtitles don't match up

In the movie _ **True Blood** _, a cop confronts a suspect he’s been hunting for years:

**COP:** You killed my partner!

**SUSPECT:** No. You’re wrong. There were \*three \*of us on the roof that night.

**COP:** (_After a long pause_) Are you dickin’ me around?

In the Russian version, the last line became “What, are you deceiving me?” It definitely lost something in translation. ☹

No one’s yet mentioned the Woody Allen film where _none_ of the subtitles match the dialogue, [What’s Up, Tiger Lily?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What%27s_Up,_Tiger_Lily%3F) With subtle changes, a James Bond-ish film becomes a search for an egg salad recipie.
