I write them every day. I work in a law office. I haven’t written a personal letter in years, though.
I received an email from a childhood neighbor saying that her mom’s 80th birthday was coming up at the end of May. Her mom was bemoaning the fact that no one ever wrote handwritten letters anymore. Hence, she requested that anyone who felt like it, write a handwritten letter to her mom. I had actually read a letter to my sister from the mother, and her penmanship was impeccable. I’m actually thinking of creating a font from her handwriting.
So, for the first time in over 30 years, I wrote a handwritten letter. It was a real bitch. I wrote it up in a word processor, spell checked it, and tested my personal font size for spacing, and then copied it to a letter (it was a 8.5" x 11" fold out card).
I still managed to make a couple of transcription errors, but it was a good effort.
Sincerely,
Darryl Lict
I put “last 5 years” (some sort of thank-you note), but I’ve written a business letter in the past year.
