Check out Genesis 1:14, where God creates the mods (and the two great luminaries, TUBADIVA and Lynn Bodoni)… and also Genesis 1:20 where God creates all the “swarms of living creatures” which are the members. ---

That “sense of humor” must make them forget that the forum description for ATMB is "For technical questions and concerns about the SDMB. " Straight questions deserve straight answers. I found where one former mod left. Some moderators were here from the beginning, of course. **TubaDiva** , **Lynn Bodoni** , **JillGat** , and **Eutychus** go 'way back, and I’m pretty sure that **C K Dexter Haven** and **manhattan** do as well. Other mods were added later, as new fora were added, or as the workload increased in the existing fora. I’m not sure about dates. There are also four ex-mods: **Melin** , about whom the less said the better (suffice to say that she got demoted and eventually banned), and **Nickrz** , **JillGat** , and myself, who voluntarily stepped down. ---

Here’s the mods that I remember as having been here when I signed up. At that time, I think each forum only had one moderator. My memory of the line-up was: ATMB: TubaDiva (Admin) Comments on Cecil’s Columns: JillGat Comments on Mailbag Answers [now Staff Reports]: CKDexerHaven (Admin) General Questions: Nickerz Great Debates: David B Cafe Society, & IMHO did not exist MPSIMS: Eutychus55 [now Eutychus] The BBQ Pit: Lynn Bodoni ---

So, I guess that means that the Moderator Group is evolving rather than a one-time creation? Damn. **Ms Reckon** , some straight questions have been asked often, and rake up old wounds whose scabs are best left unpicked at. The Moderator Group is not fixed, but changes over time; some people find that their schedules and time constraints have changed, and they can no longer serve. Some forums get added, or get such heavy traffic that new Moderators are sought. In short, there is no one or simple answer to the question. ---

Incidentally, how are Mods chosen on the SD? I’ve never witnessed the ‘birth’ of a Mod here, so I’m curious. Also, what sort of things do you (the mighty Admins) look for in the potential Mod? ---
