When will idiots learn not to text and drive? (Texas bus accident)

Where did I say that?

No, just your idea. No one is going to fucking change their voicemail every time they get in and out of a car. Get a life.

I have to drive as part of my job.

  1. Another poster on another thread got their panties in a bunch when I would not reply to their posts in what they saw as a timely manner. Just trying to please all my followers.

  2. I refuse. If it bothers you that much don’t read my posts and fuck off.

Do you have a job that requires you to talk on the phone while driving?

Nobody’s own children ever misbehave, either. :dubious:

As far as changing stations on the radio and adjusting little minor things that is one thing I think auto companies got right by putting the little buttons on the steering wheel. You quickly memorize through muscle memory which buttons do what functions and you don’t have to think about it or look away from the road.

His job has something to do with being an asshole to customers who have the gall to visit his company’s trade show booth. Between shows, maybe he’s on 24 hour call to berate customers via SMS if they attempt to contact sales or order anything from their website.

Aw, isn’t that so thoughtful and sweet.

Thing is, as laudable as your commitment to your fans may be, I actually wasn’t making reference to that, but rather pointing out Crazyhorse’s tip that you can actually disable that obnoxious signature.

So those are my only choices? Geez, that’s pretty disappointing. I’m afraid I’m going to have to go with another option: I’ll continue to read your wildly entertaining posts (can’t wait 12 hours! need it now!) and make disparaging and sarcastic comments as I see fit. Deal?

Of course it is.

Dude’s got MAD SALES SKILLZ! Every post he makes only confirms it, in my estimation.

Only policy in writing is that texting while driving or not using a handsfree device while driving can result in termination. There is no official policy about taking phone calls or how quickly you must call someone back.

I can assure you after 25 years in sales, if rep on the street gets out that you aren’t returning phones calls in a timely manner, or you are “hard to get hold of” you better be making it rain if you don’t want to eventually be shown the door. Anyone that disputes this isn’t very experienced in outside sales or is a liar.

Wrong thread, Genius.

Check SDMB rules under “harassment”.

Then run home and cry to your Mommy.

Looks like we identified the Pit’s resident Drunk.

Usually posts late a night, with rambling incoherent comments.

I suggest you sober up and dry out then try again.

It’s amusing how you come up with the dumbest inferences and then cling to them like life preservers.

How long does it usually take you to find a place to pull over to return a call safely? Unless you’re out in the middle of nowhere, even the exits on interstates are only a few miles apart.

Why, do you sell more stuff when it’s raining?

If I had any doubts that he is a sales wank before, this thread has eliminated them.

Not going to be effective. you can berate people until you’re blue in the face, and they’ll still do it. “Nothing bad has happened to me yet” is a huge hill in the way.

What I think is The Way Things Ought To Be:

  1. knock it off with using police as revenue collectors via speeding tickets.

  2. instead, make catching people texting while driving their primary traffic enforcement activity, instead of limp “crackdowns” one week every year

  3. when caught, the texting driver is assessed a stiff ($300-500) citation

  4. and (this is the key piece) said driver’s mobile device is confiscated on the spot, with the ability to re-claim it at the police station after the fine is paid.

I think taking people’s toys away from them for a bit would help get the message across.

1,2. You’d have to raise taxes to make up for the lost revenue.
3,4. Replacing the phone would be much cheaper than paying the fine.

Much cheaper than jz78817’s low of $300? The average price of a smartphone is more than that. Add to that having an unpaid fine on one’s record, and most people will pay the fine. Having your phone seized for a citation is something that would never fly, though.

I am hoping and praying that this will soon be a non-issue, along with other distracted driving problems, with auto-assist/emergency intervention and self driving cars, I do pray for a safer and better system.
