When you leave your home, do you leave an interior light on?

I was at a party at a friend’s home a few weeks ago. The next door neighbor wasn’t home, and they’d left front and back porch lights blazing. It was bothersome when we peed in the bushes between the two homes.

So, we got a rag and a bag and collected all the bulbs. They’re still in my friend’s garage. We never told him what we did.

Leaving for the evening, we leave the dog’s room light on. When we’ll be away for the night or more my wife wants to leave all kinds of lights on. I turn a few back off after she goes out to the car.

There are also tiny LED night lights in the bathroom on all the time; it costs a buck something each a year to run those according to the consumption on the package.

Virtually all the lights in the house are LED, so they can be left burning with little care. Besides, the cats need to see to be able to chase their tails.

I voted before the clarification, ergo my vote is wrong! The light under the vent hood in the kitchen is never turned off, so I voted “Yes/Always”. The only light we actively turn on if we’re going to be returning after dark is the carport light.

If I gave awards for funniest post of the week, this gets it right here. I LOL’d and then I LOL’d again.

I always turn them off when I leave the house.

I have a light switch right next to the main door and a small magnetic flashlight on the door to help find the keyhole. Plus, since I rarely leave the curtains wide open and/or shades up, it wouldn’t do much to make someone outside think someone is home.

Driveway is covered by 2 D-D LED lights, one at each end. Porch has solar motion LED light to light doorways. Garage has 24/7 LED light as does upstairs bathroom. In between are several motion lights and an aquarium. I took out the 24/7 lights in that area. For some reason my monitor stays active all night too. Don’t recall last time all the doors were locked at the same time. We also are coming and leaving for work at all hours of the night. 2 20+ y.o. still living at home. Rare that the motion switch stays off very long. Sometimes picks up the dog or radiator.

We have two on timers for when we get up in the morning and again at night as we’re settling down to bed that are always on said timers. We don’t do it special because we’re gone; its just always that way.

Not intentionally, but it sometimes happens. I’ve sometimes thought it would be a good idea to have master switch that lets you turn off all lights as you leave.

If I wanted to make people think I was home, I think I’d go for leaving a TV on, blaring stuff.

I always turn the foyer light on when I leave, and I turn it on when it gets dark even if I’m in the house at the time. Sr. Weasel often gets home late, carrying a bunch of stuff, and grappling for the light switch is not his favorite thing.
