A few years now, I’ve been working from home. I didn’t put a high gloss shine on them, but I’d clean, condition, and put a nice subtle gleam to them about once a month, and give a quick dust every time I wore them.
My work boots get scuffed and banged up pretty often. I polish them up every couple of months to keep the leather from deteriorating
I don’t spit shine them, but when they start to look ratty, I give my shoes the full Kiwi treatment. I buy decent quality shoes, and if you take care of them, they last a good, long time. I think the Red Wings I’m using today I bought in 2011, and they’re my normal daily shoes.
The last time I spit shined anything would have been mid-September 1996, when I ETS’d from the Army.
I have a couple of pairs of shoes that I polish from time to time when they need it. Black combat style boots, Dr. Marten Mary Janes, stuff like that. My boots really need polishing. Thanks for the reminder.

I’ve got a couple pairs of Allen Edmonds that I wear just on special occassions (funeral, wedding, Christmas party, etc.). Each has it’s own tin of Kiwi and I shine them up before I leave the house.
