Where am I going to be? Hopefully, at the library. I say hopefully because I will have to take off from work (in this case, a midnight “lunch break”), and I’m not 100 percent sure I can get the time off. And secondly, because I’m afraid that mentioning it here will jinx it for me! 🙂 I do have to brag (again) about our local libraries here in Cleveland. (This particular one is part of the county system.) They called me the other day and said that since I was one of the first 500 to reserve the book in advance (not everyone knows that you can do that), I was invited to a Harry Potter party at the library which will run from 11:30 PM on the 15th to 1 AM on the 16th, at which I will be able to pick up my copy. They will be serving refreshments, people will be costumed, etc. And I hope that bragging about the library doesn’t reduce the chances that I will get the time off! 😃 ---

I’ve just come from one of the major bookshops here in Sydney and the new Harry Potter novel isn’t exactly flying off the stands. No queues and some very bored looking assistants dressed as warlocks trying to instil some enthusiasm in the shoppers. ---

I tried to line up, but the line would’ve kept me there for four hours, minimum and was filled with, not children as I would’ve expected, but 16-50 year old whiners. As I have to be up for work three hours after that, I decided to put it off until tomorrow. Luckily, there is the joy of Borders opening two hours early for folks like me, so I can read it at work tomorrow. ---

Well, I guess bragging about my library didn’t jinx me after all! I got the lunch break I was hoping for, and got to the library at 5 minutes after midnight. There were about 100 people in line in front of me, but the library showed amazing efficiency and I was only in line for 15 minutes before getting my copy! WOO-HOO! ---
