Some people don’t like to give out the amount thy get payed, also some companies insist you keep it private. Someone using the website might not realize that posing their position on the list makes it very easy to work out what they put in the input. Of course they could have put anything in the input, but peeps tend to be honest. A while back there was a thread where people were invited to state their income, and quite a few dopers didn’t want to or were even shocked at being asked such a personal question. ---

I personally have no problem with people knowing how much I make a year. Considering the fact that I am only the 831,927,555 richest person in the world, I don’t think that anyone will be hitting me up for a loan anytime soon. ---

Having been unemployed for rather longer than I’d like, I too entered $0.00 for my income and got the ‘unable to calculate’ message. So I tried $91/year, $1 more than their suggested minimum. Number 5,939,634,783 checking in. Sure, I’m really hauling it in compared to nearly everyone in Asia and Africa, but then what’s a hut cost over there? And le’s not get into what sneakers, cars, jeans, gas & electricity and cable takes out of the bottom line. The rest of the world should give ME a subsidy! ---

22,365,565th richest. As soon as I entered the figure though, Forbes magazine called to get some more info for their annual “The 50,000,000 Richest People in the World” edition so I would be careful what you submit or your wealth could become very public very soon. ---

There is not a direct connection between salary and net worth. I doubt that Bill Gates’ salary would place him in the position that he holds on the Forbes list. That goes for the Kerry’s and that guy in Nebraska. So far I am the second lowest in the ratings (due to my being retired), but please don’t feel like you need to send me donations. 😉 ---

On my salary when working straight out of university in German, today I would’ve been the 155,652,174 richest person in the world. Now, back in India, I’m the 869,016,818 richest person in the world. Woohoo! ---
