So there are still 10 contested House seats, and the best numbers I can find are on CNN, where you can see them broken up by district, giving you a better idea of who’s likely to get more votes when the rest come in. The problem is, due to rounding errors, I’m not totally sure that all of the districts are really at 100%; in Virginia, for example, when I was following the Senate race at sbe (and I still don’t know what sbe stands for), I could tell what specific places had a couple of precincts that were not in yet, and exactly how many, since VA has around 2400 precincts before absentee and provisional ballots, and 2599 with them. Are there any equivalent sites for other states? ---

I really liked their easy to read charts, so that’s where I went to check again yesterday [but I really think they have not bothered to update these charts at all since Wednesday](http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006/pages/results/house/). The seats I wanted to check on, CT2nd, GA12th, LA2nd, NM1st, OH2nd, OH15th, WA8th, and WY1st are _still_ listed as “processing results”. Googling the individual districts brings up a lot of unhelpful stuff to be weeded through. Checking the candidates’ websites showed some declarations of victory, but that’s coming from the candidates themselves who could very well be _declaring_ victory in a race that has still not yet been officially determined. ---

Well, Louisiana’s second district won’t be called for quite some time, because this was their primary; for some arcane reason, they have their primary open to all candidates on the general election, ad the two highest-polling duke it out a month later. So in a few weeks, a Democrat will be running against another Democrat for the House. Poor Louisiana. Everyone gets a brief break from campaign ads except them. ---

In most states, the Secretary of State is in charge of voting and election results. Usually they have a website that gives the details of the vote, often down to very detailed levels like each individual precinct. You might look there for each state you are interested in. For example, here is the Ohio one, with details on the Congressional races: [http://www.sos.state.oh.us/SOS/ElectionsVoter/results2006.aspx?Section=1849](http://www.sos.state.oh.us/SOS/ElectionsVoter/results2006.aspx?Section=1849) That shows results by County; I didn’t look for results down to precinct level. ---

I agree, Googling for the local Secretary of State or Board of Elections would probably be the best approach. You could also check the websites of one or more of the candidates in the race(s) (assuming they’re still being updated), or check the website of the nearest big newspaper.
