Seriously, this is just too odd - it’s high on the back of my thigh, about the size of a golf ball and a half and completely mysterious. I fell going up the stairs the other day but I landed on my arm (ow, still hurts some) but considering its placement I would have to fall the opposite way. There’s even an abrasion. Angry gnomes maybe? I have no recall of any good whack and from the looks of it I would have felt it for sure. I won’t post a pic unless someone has a really good idea of its genesis and requires clarification. ---

You might have done it while sleeping. Or maybe sat on something pointy and didn’t think much of it at the time. I used to hit myself all the time without noticing as a kid. I have an egg-sized bruise on the _front_ of my thigh right now but I know exactly how I got it: by falling down while walking. Uh huh. ---

Yah, front thigh bruises are usually easily explained - walking into a table or the corner of a cupboard door, etc. I uh, heard that somewhere. I’m as graceful as a gazelle, really. I tend to get a lot of strange bruises, but they’re usually drunk bruises. Any drunken escapades lately? ---

Anyone who has a bruise bigger than their palm without any obvious cause should see a doctor. It’s amazing how often people can get injuries without knowing the cause, but it’s not significant (i.e. implying a blood clottin problem) unless it’s bigger than your palm. ---

Standing in front of a mirror nekkid is always an adventure of discovery for me. I find little purple spots in places I don’t recall hitting. Then again, if I remembered every time I bumped into something or whacked something as I swung my arms, well, my brain would be full. I think if someone sneezed hard in my direction, I’d bruise. It’s always worse when I’ve been working in the garden. I’m intent on my task, and I don’t necessarily notice when I get poked by a branch or if I kneel on a stone or get scratched by a thorn. Then I come in and shower and look like I’ve been in a bar brawl. I blame it on my mom. If she’d let me take ballet lessons when I was little, I’d have grown up graceful and bruise free. Sure, if it was on the front of my thigh I could easily explain it away! I tend to try to do too much at one time and wind up being loaded down w/ stuff and bumping into things from the front. My most recent drunken escapade was 2 weeks ago and the bruise is newer than that. And the escapade mostly consisted of dancing w/ guys almost half my age which wouldn’t have bruised me _there_. I was far more likely just to fall on my tuckus!
