I am only 5’8’’ but I have a 34’’-36’’ inseam. My probem with clothing isn’t with finding it, I know about LEL and Land’s End having tall sizes. THe probelm is that only the more expensive places seem to carry Long sizes I don’t mind paying more for some stuff but why can’t target have some Longs?
I have had ssome succsess at Old Navy but it is very hit and miss. I think I could make a million if I opened a tall and cheap store
Barrels
P.S. I hate it when girls tell me how lucky I am to have long legs and that they would love to have my legs. I tell that that if they had my legs they better love knee surgery and not being able to find pants.
I found a very good navy wool business suit at the Salvation Army, brand-new, at over 80% savings. I had to get it because it fit me perfectly, even the jacket fit my shoulders like it was tailored for me, amazingly. It was so perfect I couldn’t not buy it — even though the skirt is mini, which I never wear otherwise.
I am 5’11" and have a 34" inseam (yes, I am Dutch!) Lately I have been happy to discover that it is getting easier to find pants that are long enough. The style now is to make pants extra long since more women are wearing them with high-heeled boots, and that extra few inches usually makes them perfect for me. I shop at Gap, Banana Republic, NY & Co, Express etc. for everyday clothes, all stores that are at most malls and they all have long pants. Usually not every style in the store will come in long, but 3 or 4 will, and I can usually order more styles in tall online than in the store so if you find pants you like in the store that are too short you might have better luck online. I ordered jeans from Gap online and they even have some styles in extra tall - and boy are they! It was the first time I have ever had jeans be just too long, and by a good 6 inches or so!
I have bought from Newport News before too and also had trouble with everthing being ‘out of stock’ but I did eventually get all my items, although one shirt took almost 2 months to come.
I have the same problem Barrels has. I can usually get Levi’s that will fit, but I can’t afford them now. The only place I CAN afford that carries long sizes is WalMart.
Correction: Above I posted that I got two dresses I liked from Nordstrom, actually it wasn’t them, it was from Newport News. So I mixed them up because they both start with N. I looked all through Nordstrom but didn’t find any dresses I would actually think of buying. Von Fursternburg’s stuff looks good, but all her models are anorexically thin, wearing negative-numbered sizes. That’s a bit of a turnoff. The two times I ordered from Newport News I got long stretchy Morticia dresses that fit me both snugly and perfectly, which is a miracle. One of them is made of silk and lycra. I think I got the very last one they had in stock. What a crapshoot it must be to place an order.
I’ve got an inseam of 37 inches, only six-two and fifteen years old. It’s really not an awesome achievement. Pants are always over $70 dollars and they rarely fit… I liked those Dutch websites though, kind of pricey… Tall Girl is good but I can’t find the measurements for their jeans and stuff, so I’m hesitant to buy anything.
