Where do the old pianos go?

You’re gonna want to scale back that reply.

I’m not looking for a free piano or trying to get rid of one, but I wanted to say thanks for posting a detailed factual answer. Too often the high-quality responses go unnoticed in the usual thicket of puns and WAGs.

you expecting treble?

Hahahahaha penis.

I have had the poor fortune to have to get rid of four in the last five years. One was sold for a nominal amount, two were donated to churches for basically basement use, one had no takers at all so I cut it down and scrapped the metal and reused the wood for some projects I had in mind. As an aside, I got more for the scrap than I did selling the one. Even worse than pianos are semi-old organs; the basic Hammond household tube types. Even with some of the more ornate semi-professional ones its a losing game. If I ever have to deal with one of those again its going to be Saws-all and Dumpster.

Old pianos never die. They just dimuendo away.

Lovingly hand-polished to a fine finish?

I was at a party this summer where an old, dismantled player piano was burned in a firepit.

People Will them to churches. In every basement room, of church I know, there is an out of tune, beat up old piano upon which some kid bangs out a little Ragtime once every three years or so.

Repurposed. Some of these are cool - and surprisingly non-kitschy - enough to tempt me.

Those bars look pretty good.
