Where do you look when walking?

When I walk, my eyeballs roam everywhere. Indoors, I’m looking flyers on the wall, gazing down the hall to see who’s coming toward me, checking out lights, trim, paint, whatever. Outdoors, I’m taking in the scenery, watching cars go by, and so on. Sometimes I encounter other pedestrians whose eyes are perpetually locked onto the ground a few feet in front of them.
