Back in the day when we had to plug the car in (northern Wisconsin,) my pappy would either drape the cord on the door mirror (truck) or under the wipers (car) so he’d see it. Now we have a heated single vehicle garage (wife’s car) and the kids and my vehicles stay outside. Haven’t had to plug any in yet in over 20 years. Battery charger maybe once in a great while as well as an occasional ceramic heater.
For a while I was buying an extension cord every few weeks, as my daughter’s room is not set up in a way conducive to her electronic usage. The ones I would buy were usually too short, too long, stuck out too much, too few plug ins.
I figure at one point we had at least 15 extension cords.
A few weeks ago I went to look for an extension cord. None were to be found.
She donated them ALL to the thrift store.
At least she didn’t get to the heavy duty ones in the garage.
It will get interesting when electric cars become the norm.
Now that the good weather’s here, I’ll bring in the extension cord that kept my car going during the winter. Our neighbourhood has been the subject of a mini crime wave lately–mostly car prowlings and thefts of lawn gnomes; nothing serious. But there’s no sense in leaving something useful outside to be stolen.
So you are leaving your lawn gnomes out, right?
I helped the gnomes go into hiding until things in the neighbourhood settle down.
Ah, the Underground Gnomeway. I’ve heard of it.
Most of mine have disappeared into the black hole under my compuer desk, whee there are fifty plugs and two wall outlets. But I also have my rolled sleeping bag ties up with one.
