Where have all the dead birds gone?

In Wichita.

All the dead birds seem to go in my attic. They go in, but they do not go out. I am not sure why this is. Over a year later none of them have been eaten by anything. So I conclude that an attic is a pretty safe place for a dead bird to go.

Does anyone else of a certain age have their head in their hands after seeing this song referred to as “Van Halen’s”? :stuck_out_tongue:

Ask the question of where they go when it rains and you will have your answer.

Yeah, but he’s comparing running across rough terrain to an athlete running across a flat and prepared field. That’s not comparable at all. Footwork is not an issue for the latter, they can depend on their feet coming down exactly on the surface they expect.

According to North Korean state run media we ate them because all we have in the US to eat were birds (which, as noted are all gone now) and the free coffee made from snow that the government provides. Oh, and hopefully some care packages from North Korea to prop us up for another week…

A more interesting question is where have all the dead mice gone? I see dead birds fairly often but never dead mice. Or dead squirrels.

Well, ok… but that’s still the one in my head. :stuck_out_tongue:

And in a thread devoted to bird carcasses, I’m schooled on this tune’s proper place in history.

They would be even more likely than birds to die in places where the body would not be visible.

Yes, this.

*Where have all the dead birds gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the dead birds gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the dead birds gone?
Picked by rodents, every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the rodents gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the rodents gone?
Long time ago . . . . .

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Eaten by young birds, every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?*

Drivers must be a lot more cautious where you live. Or the squirrels smarter.

Interestingarticle on birds flying into buildings. I guess there are lots of dead birds out there that we don’t see.

Update from the field - saw a dead robin, fairly fresh, on the side of the road today during my run. Don’t worry - I had good posture and was looking ahead like I’m supposed to, but still noticed it. Saw a dead cat, too, but that’s not the topic of the thread!
