# Where is the Edit button?

I just made a few odd typos and I see people talk about editing, but I can’t see any option for it?

Guests don’t have the ability to edit; that feature (along with Search and other features) is reserved for paid members. They’re some of the perks that are intended to make becoming a full member attractive. Sorry.

I’m a member - where’s the edit button.
(I always thought the inability to edit was “a good thing.”) Just looked at a thread in IMHO where someone quoted language no longer existing in an edited prior post.)

Yep. They turned on the edit feature and the Private Messaging system when the new server went live. You have a five-minute window in which to edit your post, after which the button disappears.

Bottom right corner of your post, next the Reply button. It disappears after 5 minutes.

Well, if you are **active** , it disappears. Otherwise if you are reading posts after you posted, it sits there taunting you… then disappears if you try to use it.

Thanks Heavens. The other forum I use most often has some slightly different code and I always manage to screw up my links when I post on SDMB.
And the Preview on the other forum is wonky so I fell out of THAT habit…

I came here to find out about the edit function I’ve been seeing and now I learn we can private message, too! Wow!
I just realized, I don’t have anyone to private message. _sigh_ But at least I can edit.
