Ah yes, once again… Someone on the right demands that everyone on the left apologize for and show their outrage over something said by someone on the left, as if we are some monolithic lockstep group. While failing to notice that while we on the left will attack things said by the right, we don’t usually demand that every single right winger immediately denounce these things. Otherwise, jacky-baby, I think we have a long list of things we’ll be asking your to denounce and apologize for on your side. Are you up for that? Let’s start with Huckabee saying that Trump should ignore the Supreme Court just like President Jackson did in regards to the Trail of Tears. Obviously you must support the mass removal and deaths of thousands of people, since this was said by someone on your side, right? ---

The OP’s attempt at outrage is a common tactic from the right, in my observation. Present some false-equivalency argument and then puff up like somehow they are making a valid point, all to distract from the true issue(s) at hand. I see it here all the time, and frequently with this particular poster. Raise concerns about Trump accusing President Obama of “wiretapping” and the effect such an accusation has on undermining trust in government, to say nothing of the sheer indecency of the claim in the absence of proof, and a certain segment of the Right will instantly say, “But… but… Obama _lied_ when he said if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan!! What about _that_? Huh? HUH??” (It’s their go-to “lie” by Obama. Apparently there aren’t any others.) Such an obvious false equivalency. Obama did not lie. He said what he believed was true based on the best information available at the time. It wasn’t until the administration learned that many private insurance policies on offer by insurance companies were substandard and would not provide the purchasers with hospital care that rules were put into place in the ACA requiring insurance companies to offer plans that met a minimum standard of care. In some circumstances, this caused some holders of these fraudulent policies to choose different, non-substandard insurance. [Obama Administration closes the loophole that allowed substandard health care plans](https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/obama-administration-closing-loophole-that-allowed-sub-standard-health-care-plans/2014/11/04/478057de-646c-11e4-9fdc-d43b053ecb4d_story.html?utm_term=.730770e0a8f5). So technically, yes, a lie – but an unintentional one. Contrast this with Trump’s deliberate and irresponsible lie about Obama wiretapping Trump Tower, including the characterization of Obama as a “bad (or sick) guy.” A willful, reckless, revolting statement rested upon zero evidence, offered for the purposes of maligning the legacy of a successful president and distracting from Trump’s own failures. Worse, he orders Congress to investigate his no-evidence lie, and then when Congress goes through the motions of investigating the lie, he doubles down by failing to cooperate with the investigation. No real mystery as to why. He lied. He has no evidence to present. Despicable. No parity with Obama’s “lie” whatsoever. Yet the OP has repeatedly raised these false equivalency strawman-type arguments. It’s his go-to. It’s the go-to of many right-leaning individuals. They seem simply incapable of drawing distinctions on the finer points or thinking them through in a critical way. ---
