You think the liberal media are pinning their hopes on _Piers Morgan_? Dude, take your head out of the echo chamber once in a while. There is no liberal media conspiracy. Liberals simply aren’t that organized. And besides, any liberal with any passing familiarity with Morgan hates him. ---

This thread was totally worth the price admission, for the sweet ballsackness and Fry’s wit, which I am glad to have explained to me. I was vaguely aware of Morgan and his vulgarian past. He seemed to be perfectly slotted with Sharon Osbourne and David Hasselhoff on America’s Got (No) Talent. A C-lister that gets bumped to the B because of his accent. I actually grew to like him somewhat on The Celebrity Apprentice, mainly because he was pitted against all which is evil, Omarosa. Which is saying something about how toxic she is - making Piers Morgan appear pitiable. But he was quite clever and likable there. I think he must give the best BJs in the entertainment biz, because I have no idea how he scored the Larry King gig. That’s the kind of opportunity you think a former TV news anchor might snag. What’s Dan Rather doing nowadays? But he got it, and is about to slide his slippers under the bed of CNN’s viewership. If he doesn’t get caught in some horrible scandal and the ratings are decent, he can do this until he dies, and then a few years after (see Larry King). I am amused that Clarkson tried to twat Morgan. On the Concorde, no less. How annoying do you have to be to out-annoy Clarkson? ---

Yeah, I don’t know who he is, either. I’ve seen commercials for his show, but until just the past few days I couldn’t figure out why they’d give Piers Anthony a talk show. Now I know there are two men with the name Piers, but that’s about it in regards to Piers #2. ---

The only people with a vested interest in his success are CNN; the rest of the coverage was because Larry King was on TV for so long and some people are interested in who is replacing him. You can see the same thing with the coverage of Regis Philbin’s retirement. Right now they’re covering the announcement, and when someone replaces him or a new show replacing his, that will get a little coverage, too. All the networks want strong ratings. It’s not a team sport, it’s not Everybody vs. Fox, and they do not care if someone gets “taken down.” If CNN gets a hit show, that’s good for CNN and nobody else. It’s bad for Fox if they take away Fox viewers, but then again they might take viewers from ABC or CBS or any other network, so it’s not in the interests of those networks to help CNN. The cross promotional whoring juggernaut goes on. I guess every major celebrity interview he does will be CNN’s top story the following day for the rest of this week. Today [CNN.com](http://CNN.com)’s top story right now is “Howard Stern: ‘I don’t like Jay Leno.’” So fucking what? This isn’t news; a lot of people have said they don’t like Leno in the last year-plus. Yesterday the top story in the morning was his interview with Oprah. Good for CNN for finally giving Oprah some media exposure, by the way. ---
