# Where were you in the year 1999?

How many people on this board know who she was?
She was the skip of the 1998 Olympic gold medal curling team and her death was a shock.
In February, my brother died from a brain tumor.
In July, my employer announced that as of Jan. 1, the annuity rate on retirement accounts would go down considerably. In October, my chair mentioned that if I retired before 65, I would get a lump sum of 75% of my salary from the retirement till the end of the month I turned 65. For me, that would mean that if I retired on Dec. 31, I would get 75% of 25 months salary. I though about it for a while and took it. Best thing I ever did.
