Eons ago, while studying Julius Caesar in high school, a group of us decided Julia Squeezer was just incredibly funny word play. It stuck and became my sarcastic nickname. Hey! It was high school! ---

At one time I was an epic Prince fan. Probably one of the most obscure, officially-released Prince tracks is from _Showgirls_, called “ripopgodazippa”. It’s a classic Prince throw-away track, and I dig it, and it fits with the insanity of that movie. But I Am Not A Zipper. ---

Mine is a misspelling - udlænding would be the correct Danish term for a foreigner - but udlander seemed more logical (if anything in Danish can be so) when I first arrived. And it poignantly sums up how I feel sometimes, stuck between two languages and cultures and not really properly belonging to either. ---

I was at work on the overnight shift, and close to a dozen callers asked me for my name (an uncommon occurance), so finally, my coworker said, “Say it’s Shecky.” I logged on here for the first time about a day later. ---
