As some of you may know, [Where’s George?](http://www.wheresgeorge.com/faq.php) is a system where users mark bills and then track the voyage of the dollars online. I remember hearing a year or so ago about a similar program for books. One can paste in a label in a book then leave it in a public place (such as an airport) for another person to find and use. The book’s progress from person to person can be followed online. I always thought this sounded really fun, and as I’ll be flying to Ireland this weekend, I thought it would be neat to give it a shot. It would also help me get rid of three or four books I have lying around that I didn’t include in my last book donation.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about? Help would be very much appreciated.

Take a look at [BookCrossing.com](http://www.bookcrossing.com/).

> [@](#):
>
> The “3 Rs” of BookCrossing…
>
> Read a good book (you already know how to do that)
> Register it here (along with your journal comments), get a unique BCID (BookCrossing ID number), and label the book
> Release it for someone else to read (give it to a friend, leave it on a park bench, donate it to charity, “forget” it in a coffee shop, etc.), and get notified by email each time someone comes here and records journal entries for that book. And if you make Release Notes on the book, others can Go Hunting for it and try to find it!
