With the return of the Discworld Reading Club, the time is ripe for a new Discworld casting thread, says I. That, and my 1yr old daughter received _Where’s My Cow?_ as a present - I’m just looking after it for her, really. Anyway, the illustrations for _WMC?_ nudged my thinking and made one thing absolutely clear: **Pete Postlethwaite _is_ Vimes**! I can’t believe I never saw this before. I’m sure others have mentioned it in previous casting threads, but it never gelled until seeing those illos. Any comments or other suggestions? ---

Rickman could certainly play Vetinari, but he’d have to tone down the snarkiness in his voice a little. Vetinari always has a perfectly even voice. Frasier could be a good carrot, but he’d have to be a little more manly. ---

I think Ian Richardson (House of Cards) would be a perfect Vetinari - he’s got that air of ‘better than the rest of you’ but can also be warm and genuine on occassion. Which is kinda how I see Vetinari. ---
