No, but I’ve seen a Kaypro. Pretty much as you describe, except for the printer and modem. As recently as 1987, we had a die-hard Kaypro user in our office.

Yes, it was big and heavy. But it had a handle on top, and if you liked carrying a 30-pound suitcase, then this was a machine for you! But it was pretty impressive for its time. It was no laptop, certainly; but it was indeed portable. Nice to look at my current laptop and see how far we’ve come since then.

I once had to install Windows 3.11 to run under Windows 98 so that I could install Windows 1.xx under 3.11 to run an ancient version of Aldus Pagemaker (before Adobe bought them out) to open a some files on a 5 1/4" floppy drive.
