That’s really the pits. When I was in grad school, I stopped leaving my lunch in the communal refrigerator because I often found bits missing, or things like chunks of cheese actually carved into! And I don’t think it was my fellow students either, because one of the research staff (paid considerably better than me) later confessed to “borrowing” from the milk I kept to add to my coffee.

Way back when I also used to work with someone who was absolutely shameless about pigging out on cookies, etc. left out for everyone to munch on through the day. A couple of my co-workers decided to get revenge by getting some dog kibble and carefully wrapping it in Hershey’s Kisses wrappers, then leaving a bowlful on the lunch table. The Glutton walked by all afternoon grabbing handfuls at a go and contentedly munching away, much to our surprise and disgust. Finally someone made a comment about all the “chocolate” he was eating, and The Glutton said it was good if a bit crunchy. Some people are just oblivious to an amazing degree, I guess.
