On a day like today I’m sorry to be a downer. I went today for the first time since I hurt my knee and right at the end of the service, the last announcement the pastor made was that this would be his last Sunday. He said the bishop of our synod will be here next Sunday, but no reason for his departure was given. No new call, no illnes, nothing was said. I really liked this guy, he seemed like such a standup person. Now we will have to go through the process of making a call to a new pastor. I’m glad at least I could say goodbye because it seems he’s leaving immediately. I am bummed. ---

Sliced the cookie dough that I’d made last night that had been chilling in the fridge and baked it. Then melted chocolate and tempered it then spread on half of each cookie and sprinkled with orange zest. Then made brunch: cheesy omelettes, steak, american fries with sauteed onions. My friend whose birthday is this upcoming week came over for brunch. Gave her the cookies and also several gifts. Then watched some figure skating and more importantly the Spartan vs Buckeye bball game. Spartans were victorious by 19 although it was looking a little questionable there in the early second half. Watched a little of my golf crush (Jordan Speith) then off to the Fitness Center where I worked out on the same 5 machines as several days ago but I paused at the top of the leg lift as recommended and then s-l-o-w-l-y lowered the bar back to resting. Did 10 reps at 55# if memory serves. Boy could I feel it. Went to 6pm mass and Fr rushed through it thinking that peeps wanted to get home to watch a pro sports game. I had dvr’d it but am only watching the commercials. Just leftovers for me for dinner. Hubs is having cocktail weinies in bbq sauce, salad and sea-salt & lime taco chips. I would like to catch up on the thread but there are 44 posts to read and I’m ready to nod off. Guess I’ll close for tonight and see you on the flip side. ---

SWMBO asked if I was going to cook the carnitas. I said I thought we’d have pizza. She said, ‘Well, why did you get the jalapeños?’ So I said I’d heat up the carnitas. I made avocado dip (avocados, mayo, and garlic powder), and mixed some jalapeños into mine for the tacos. We had pizza for lunch. SWMBO didn’t have any pork. (She’s eating the chips and avocado dip.) ---
