Grammer would then drive us home where sticky, sleepy, hay-y kids would take a bath and go right to bed. Ain’t nothin’ like real, honest-to-Og Upstate New Yawk maple syrup. ---

My parents have a picture of me from when I was about 4 with my arms stretched out around a big tree, head upturned under the sap spigot waiting for drops of sap to fall into my mouth. Sap season’s good… at least until you get old enough to have to help. Then it’s just another chore like anything else. But the syrup still tastes awfully good in the end! ---

Well, hot dang! Thunderstorm and flood watches again this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow. It’s like there’s a plot to make my 6 mile drive to work into a 30 mile drive. A conspiracy I tells ya! A conspiracy! :mad: I’m not too sure bout this here new SDMB look yet. I suspect that there will be some tweaking goin’ on over the next few days. ---

OK, as of this post, I don’t see a new look. Will it show up when I post? We shall see… Oh, yeah, and my sweetie is heading down to FlaDuh tomorrow for a long weekend with the kid. Today was his last day at the old job, and he starts the new one on Weds - yeah, their pay cycle starts on Weds - weird. But he gets to visit his firstborn and I get the critters and the house all to myself. So there’s that. And so she posts. ---

I am so glad I cut and pasted this before trying to post it. The pretty new hamsters must be really hungry. Oh, the Quick Reply function is gone. I was just getting used to it. I spent the morning (after posting to the MMP, of course) onboard the USS Gunston Hall. I was crawling around one of the enginerooms and then took a side trip up to the bridge. I was scribblin’ down part numbers and descriptions like crazy. They got a couple dozen grand to spend on stuff we sell at Technical Thingies, Inc. I’m tellin’ y’all this so that you know why I have a fortune to share. We went to China Garden Buffett afterwards for lunch. (Note to self: see if China Garden Buffett is related to Jimmy Buffett.) And yes, I’m hungry again. 🙂 You are an exciting and inspiring person. 🙂 Daily numbers 6 5 4 Lotto Six #'s 45 37 2 4 34 23 It actually had the smilies on it too. Never saw that before. Damn emoticons are migrating from the Internet. If anyone needs a fortune, I grabbed an extra cookie on the way out. I haven’t opened it yet, so it’ll be all yours. I didn’t know syrup actually came from trees. I always thought it came from log cabins. And **swampy** , Big Jim’s daughters are driving your way. They were supposed to be in Hotlanta by 10 am this morning, but somehow were at South Of The Border at 8 am this morning. Apparently they confused I-95 with I-85, and became hopelessly lost. So if you see a couple of cute 20-somethings with Virginia plates looking lost, point them in the right direction if you can. Og willin’ and the creek don’t rise, of course. {South of the Border, by the way, is the World’s Tackiest Rest Stop, and it straddles the North Carolina-South Carolina border.} ---

Quick Reply’s showing up on my computer. Huh. My slow, sad, breaking computer thinks the new spiffy SDMB is more work than the old one, though- it keep timing out and giving me ‘page not available’ crap. Mmm. Chocolate. I have swept and vacuumed and tidied and mopped and I think I will relax until work, which is at five fifteen. Even though my desk desperately needs to be cleaned. Maybe I’ll eat something before heading off, too. And do my weights and crunches. Maybe. Why can’t I get more fit with no effort on my part? There’s a cutesy poster that a friend used to have, which said: _I’ll loan my body to anyone who’ll exercise it for me._ It’s an appropriate sentiment. Will **FairyChatDad** get us all space rocks? That would be cool. ---
