Which 3 PC games have lasted the longest for you?

Baldur’s Gate 2 plus expansion and addons - hell, I still fire that up a few times a year, and it was released back in 2000.

World of Warcraft - been playing consistently since 2005, IIRC.

Neverwinter Nights (1) and expansions - the base game from Bioware was released in 2002, and expansions after that. I don’t play it as often as BG2, but I do play once a year these days or so.

  1. Rome: Total War. Regularly played since its release.
  2. Oblivion, modded up to the eyeballs. New Vegas takes up most of my RPG time these days though.
  3. The Sims 2. Don’t judge me.

Me too!

I’m usually in Anything Goes under “Mattie.” I routinely play with drewms64 and “stellar1.” Maybe we’ve run into you at some point. Mostly do shoppers.

Also, played Quake 1 for ~8 hours a day for probably 3-4 years back in the mid-90’s. I lost a lot of my childhood to that game :stuck_out_tongue:

Well if the CIV series counts I guess I would have to put up Europa Universalis as my default go to game. I think I’ve had an EU game on my computer ever since the first one came out in 2000. Especially EU3 and all of its expansions - magistrates are awesome.

  1. World of Warcraft (which has finally overtaken Final Fantasy XI in “hours played” for me)
  2. Half-Life (including mods Counter-Strike and Team Fortress Classic)

…and…

  1. X-COM UFO Defense. I bought it on launch day in 1994. And while its sequels have come and gone, I haven’t stopped playing the original.

Dwarf Fortress is a comer, as are Total Annihilation/Supreme Commander.

  1. NetHack (different flavors of)
  2. ADoM
  3. Oblivion

Also, about every 2 years I replay Dungeon Master (with VGA graphics!). That game is so much fun

Steam says I spent a total of over 160 hours in the two Mount & Blade games and over 66 hours in Fuel. I also have several hours invested in City of Heroes and maintain a subsription.

Hard for me to say, since I still play some games from way back in the DOS days, and there are others that I would still play occasionally if I could get them to run.

Freespace 2 is the first game I install whenever I rebuild my windows system (usually about every 6-18 months).

Diablo II still gets taken out of the barn and trotted about from time to time.

If it’s my computer, it has some form of Tetris on it somewhere.

If I could get it to run, Tie Fighter would be on this list.

  1. Planescape: Torment - this leaves the others in the dust.
  2. Dungeon Keeper 1
  3. Knights of the Old Republic.

ETA: Upon reading the thread, Diablo 2 & Baldur’s Gate 2 are right up there, too.

Since Buckgully mentioned Tie Fighter I need to figure out if X-Wing and/or X-Wing vs Tie Fighter should be up there.

No you haven’t cuz I honestly have never played online. I don’t think I even knew you could, I’m gonna have to figure that out.

Age of Empires 2
Jones: life in the fast lane
And the last one…hm…
Red Alert 2/the sims/Risk II. Take yer pick!

Longest period from first to last play:
Sam & Max Hit the Road (released 1993, last played 2010, will be played again)
Darklands (released 1992, last played ~2007)
City of Heroes (coming up on 7th anniversary)
Most hours played:
City of Heroes
Diablo II
Morrowind

For those who have no D2 discs but want to re-install: if you can find your license key, that’s all you need. You can register your key on battle.net and download installers for D2 and the expansion.

I’m still working my way through Deva Vu. I didn’t acquire my copy until around 1991. 20 years.

ETA: Three games. Yeah. Like I’ve played 3 different PC games!!
