Which are worse – the Star Wars prequels or The Hobbit movies?

In Tolkien’s universe, from the point of view of an elf a love affair with a dwarf would be only one step up from bestiality.

The Hobbit.

My reasoning is thus - I’m still stoked for the new* Star Wars*, despite the prequels. But if you told me PJ was bringing out a Silmarillion movie, I would tell you I don’t give a fuck. That’s how thoroughly he destroyed all the goodwill he’d built up with the LoTR movies (which I loved). From the shit-covered radagast to the elf-dwarf lovestory to the made-up retread characters bloating everything (Oh, look, another giant deformed albino orc!) to the fucking rockworms, just shit-on-shit-on-shit.

The prequels were worse, but the Hobbit movies pissed me off far more.

Wouldn’t go near them. I could read the Hobbit in half the time it takes to sit through the films anyway

The Hobbit is worse, because at least Lucas was only pissing on his *own *source material.

The SW prequels are worse, the Hobbit is far more disappointing. And also shit.

Umm, because we have to watch them at least once to find out that they sucked?

For the Hobbit movies, once is enough.

Well, yeah, he did. Her name was Gimli.

Touche.

In my case, the only reason I watched the second two Hobbit films and the third Star Wars prequel was because of my nephews. They were watching them and I was trapped with them with no chance of escape.

I don’t give a fuck about the new star wars because of the prequels. But I concede I also wouldn’t give a fuck about a Silmarillion movie.

Yeah, but Lucas isn’t doing the new movies. How would you feel if some other director took over and did the Silmarillion?

Oh, you mean like the director that made me not give a fuck about star trek?

The Star Wars prequels have stood the test of time. It’s like they have banks accounts full of badness with accumulating interest. They win.

The Hobbit was good. Both Star Wars and LOTR were bad. Lay off.

This is a pretty good answer.

I’m still going with the Hobbitses. Watching the prequels, I felt like I was at least watching movies. The Hobbit movies, I felt like I was watching someone play a Hobbit-themed video game after entering the Konami code.

What does “entering the Konani code” mean?

Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A.

It was a code used in a lot of early video games (notably Contra) that gave you superpowers, extra lives, or invincibility.

The Star Wars prequels, but I think it’s a closer contest than many of you do. Or at least, when the films are judged on their own merits, independent of prior expectations or faithfulness to the source material, et cetera.
In context, the prequels win by a landslide for the unmatched, devastating, soul-killing disappointment they delivered after so many years of anticipation. There simply wasn’t as much buildup for the Hobbit trilogy [sic!!?] and I think most Tolkien fans were already fairly sated (or repulsed) by the umpteen hours of Jackson’s LotR movies.

Ah, I get it. Google said it was a cheat code, but I thought that just meant it gave the player a hint as to how to solve a puzzle or something.
