[cigar-chewing hollywood producer]Take all the Avengers who were a) Female b) wore skimpy costumes c) had large chests and make a movie featuring them all as costars, calling it “The Avengerettes”. The movie would include lots of time spent cleaning up after battles in a large gym-locker style communal shower. Story? Super-villain has evil master plan, gets defeated in climactic battle, when being carted off to prison screams “You haven’t seen the last of me!” [/cigar-chewing hollywood producer] ---

The only good characterization of the Wasp I can remember reading is Peter David’s treatment of her in [Spectacular Spider-Man #105-106](http://stevegoble.blogspot.com/2009/09/peter-parker-spectacular-spider-man-105.html). Apart from that she’s forgettable. As to the worst Avenger’s character, Deathcry narrowly beats out other contenders such as Rage, Swordsman, Doctor Druid, Mantis and the female Yellowjacket. I’m one of the few people who think that Hank Pym has great character potential, and if the stereotype of a Marvel character is a hero with clay feet, Pym is the epitome of that dynamic. I love the notion of a guy that has so much going for him and he’s not a bad guy, but he makes bad decisions and can’t seem to get out of his own way. But it seems like writers keep wanting to redeem him. I say leave him unredeemed, he’s more interesting that way. ---

Oddly enough… Hawkeye. Yes, he’s a great hero. But he’s just not flashy enough for these days. If they were going to do a superhero archer, they’d prefer Green Arrow, I think. He’s a better-known character than Hawkeye, who always plays second fiddle to other Avengers. I think that’s kinda sad, because I really like the character. C’est la vie. ---

I doubt any of the second-stringers will ever get a solo joint. It’s possible they could show up in the flagship film(s). I don’t yet believe that the Ant-Man movie will happen. Maybe the Black Panther someday. It isn’t the Avengers without some combination of Wasp/(Gi)Ant-Man/Hawkeye/Vision/Scarlet Witch so hopefully some of them will show. I don’t have any hopes for any of them, except maybe Hawkeye. Seems like I heard somewhere that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver can’t be in the movie because they are tied up with the rights to the X-Characters. Even if that’s not true I suspect they’ll never get in, and will probably never be in an X-Movie either. Before Whedon took on the reins for _Avengers_ I assumed that no one but the big three (plus the Hulk) would appear. But now I assume that he’ll at least put in some cameos. Whedon’s penchant for strong female characters will hopefully result in some kind of appearance for Wasp or Ms. Marvel or Tigra or somebody. Really obscure folks like Mantis, Dr. Druid, Living Lightning, Firebird, Triathlon, or the black female Captain Marvel aren’t ever going to appear even if the franchise lasts for decades. ---

Rick Jones couldn’t even get a walk-on in the Hulk movies, so I have little expectation of ever seeing him in an Avenger movie. ---

An issue about a hypothetical Captain Marvel movie. There’s two different [Captain](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Marvel_(Mar-Vell)) [Marvel](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monica_Rambeau) characters in the Marvel universe but the best known [Captain Marvel](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Marvel_(DC_Comics)) is the Fawcett/DC one. This means there might be legal issues over a movie with a Captain Marvel character. ---

You can get around that the same way Marvel did…spell it the way it was originally in the comic, Captain Mar-Vell. ---
