I have a list that’s about average, but only 3 artists that I have seen, or will see in the near future, more than once:

Schascle/Twinkle: As much as bjork and emiliana torrini are above her, Schascle is nonetheless above all other female singers. Seen her at least 6 times…if you like blues/rock/jazz/soul (her style’s really indescribable), see her.

Dashboard Confessional: Seen them twice, and will see them for a third time this Thursday. When I describe that their concert is a sing-along, ppl say “a lot of bands do that”. No, they don’t, you really didnt listen when I mentioned the extent to which they do this. For a music geek like me it provides nice reinforcement of my musical knowledge, and the knowledge that other people share this with me.

Heart: probably my second-favorite arena-rock artists, besides Led Zep. This time, however, they are playing smaller places: last time I saw them at House of Blues they did the best song I’ve heard from _anyone_ in concert: cover of Battle of Evermore (just think of the harmonies they exploited in that song!). I include them here because they are coming back here in winter and I am soooo there.

Susan Tedeschi
Kartik Seshadri (sitar player)

Well, I’ve seen a virtual who’s-who of Canadian indie rock over the past five years, including:

The Weakerthans

The Carnations
Ron Sexsmith (twice)
Sam Roberts

Other bands/artists I’ve seen, some I’m proud to admit, others not:

The Pixies
Frank Black and the Catholics
Steve Earle
Blue Rodeo (three times)
The Skydiggers
Idlewild
Spirit of the West
The Waltons (twice)
The Arrogant Worms
Matthew Good Band (twice)
Big Wreck
The Watchmen
Collective Soul (twice)
I Mother Earth
Our Lady Peace
The Tea Party

> \*\*The dBs \*\* are another standout, saw them three times during the summer of 1985 at the 9:30, the Roxy and American University. Great shows, they usually opened with “Any Old Thing,” and I remember them ripping through “See No Evil” for an encore at the 9:30.

These two make me very jealous.

In no particular order:

Jose Feliciano (my mom took me)
The Scorpions
Ratt (opened for the Scorpions)
Journey
ZZ Top
Def Leppard (twice; once with 5 non-Leppard fans)
Commander Cody (in 1992)
The Subdudes (opened for Commander Cody)
Eddie Money (at the fair)
Loverboy (opened for Eddie Money)
REM
Soundgarden
Train (in a 1400 seat venue–wonderful show)
Wood (opened for Train)
Barenaked Ladies
Guster (opened for BNL)
The Tragically Hip

Best concert was definitely Barenaked Ladies.

I had a great time a both Def Leppard concerts, if you discount the drunken fans. REM put on a great show, but the venue was outdoors (the Gorge at George, Washington) which wasn’t the best for their music and the crowd sucked.

My least favorites: ZZ Top–the band played for 45 minutes and left, and Ratt–the distortion was so bad that you really had no idea which of their crappy songs they were playing.

I really, really want to go see Chris Isaak and probably will see him next year when he comes to Seattle. And I really want to see Martin Zellar, but since I’m not going to the mid West and he isn’t coming to Washington, I don’t see that happening.

In chronological order:
Godsmack
Misfits
Metallica (at Summer Sanitarium, so I also saw Limp Bizkit’s last four songs. Don’t know if that counts)
Evanescence
Metallica (Godsmack opening)
NOFX (Authority Zero, Alkaline Trio opening, Jello Biafra speaking)

All within the last year. Not too bad, eh?
