**CalMeacham:**. I’ve wondered about that myself.

“Hi! I’m Jugalo McJuggle from the planet Juggler, where everybody has the ability to juggle, and I want to JOIN THE LEGION!”

“Say, thanks for the tip, we could use a good juggler. Lemme just Google your planet to find out who the most congenial member could be — not to mention the mightiest juggler of y’all — and we’ll be phoning him or her shortly. The exit’s to your left.”

For some of these characters I would say there is a difference between being shot and being SHOT.

Getting shot with a .38 and getting shot with a .50 BMG (a not uncommon sniper rifle) are very different. The latter will leave your head mostly a mist.

Do you go by easy in principle to kill, or by how hard it is to line up the chance?

The Punisher is a mortal man (except for that time he died and then the afterlife kicked him out), but just somehow everyone who ever thought that a simple bullet to the head would end him is gone, and he’s still here. To the point that roomfuls of armed killers have been afraid to even try.

Deathstroke, one of the most accomplished assassins in the DC universe tried to fulfill a contract on Star City mayor Oliver Queen. He didn’t.

P.S. what happens if you teleport the Hulk into intergalactic space, millions of light-years from anything and no air?

I remember reading a very, VERY stupid debate about Hulk space invulnerability online that claimed if you were to throw Hulk into the edge of space he could literally get back to Earth by simply putting his back to its general direction and spitting which would eventually propel him enough to get back to Earth. He would know how to get back by using his Bruce Banner brain to triangulate via star formations.

Most superheroes can be killed easily, bar a very small few that have infinite regeneration and invulnerability.
And if you point-blank nuke Wolverine or Deadpool, their infinite regeneration _should not_ help them.

However, their mere physical protection is nothing compared to the Power of… PLOT-PROTECTION.

Plot protection is what causes the Stormtroopers to miss the heroes _all the time_ despite comments like “Ben Kenobi: And these blast points, too accurate for Sandpeople. Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise.”
Plot protection is why the Empire pilots are not allowed to Use The Force to hit a thermal exhaust port, even when the empire pilot involved is Darth Vader.

So no, no comic book character is easy to kill, and even when you manage it…
Plot protection is so strong, that even when they die, they don’t die!! Look it up folks, Superman has been killed FIFTEEN times already, and yet he is still flying around in his underwear without being arrested for public indecency.

This thread reminds me of “Tower Of Babel”, a 4-comic arc and possibly the high-water mark of the early 2000s JLA comics. Ra’s Al Ghul wants to end humanity for its sins against the environment, but first he has to take out the JLA to do it. And the ways he does are actually kind of genius.

Aquaman is poisoned to get an acute fear of water.
Flash is shot with a bullet that somehow gets him stuck in super-vibration-mode.
Green Lantern is hypnotically blinded.
Martian Manhunter is engulfed with nanites that make his skin combust when exposed to oxygen.

And so on and so forth. It’s really quite a story.

There are quite a few superhero heavy hitters who only survive by means of plot armor. Hell, even Superman nearly bit the dust thanks to a Kryptonite bullet a while back - he only survived because Batman was around for emergency surgery. Some weaknesses are downright comical - Martian Manhunter’s aversion to fire is famous, but who can forget that Copper saps Metroman’s indelible strength?
