But even just regular clothes follow trends. It’s sort of hard not to follow trends if most of the regular clothes are part of some trend. Like, even if you just want a regular pair of jeans, chances are if you buy them today they’ll be fairly low rise and probably skinny.
I said 80’s. I started going to school in the late 80’s and can clearly remember lots of neon and strange patterned clothing until maybe 91 or 92. Everything was loud, flashy, ugly, and completely awesome.
I said the 80s too, because I find it hard to figure from pictures or songs etc if something was from the 60s or 70s because up until the birth of disco, there was a lot of carry over in both fashion and music.
Exactly.
“Culturally identifiable” - Pull out a random set of sights and sounds from each decade. I think the 80’s are instantly identifiable because the cultural styles were everywhere, at all levels of society and across all the arts, not confined to a small segment, and were part of everything, TV, film, music, fashion…everyone was dressing horribly and listening to awful music.
Odd. I don’t remember a single identifable thing about the 80s. Of course, I drank a lot in the early part of that decade, and was married before the end.
