More of mine - the OrlanDope crew! **Ivylass** is married to Ivylad (did he ever actually post?) and is a breast cancer survivor. Lives outside the Orlando metro area, but close enough for government work. Is conservative. Is very nice. **Ludovic** does something tech-y, and commutes to the coast. Makes a fine vehicle passenger. Is hilarious. **Acid Lamp** and **nashitashii** are a (lovely) couple. She is a librarian and he’s a sculptor. She’s Icelandic. No idea where he is from. He’s into weapons and martial arts. And beards. **Hypno-Toad** is into table top gaming and keeps boxes of miniatures in the trunk of his car. Actually, come to think of it, that was probably jus that one time. Has participated in bondage games both as the protagonist and… er… victim? **Blue Mood** is from England and came all the way to Orlando for a Dopefest. Actually, to see her sister, but the other way sounds cooler. Very elegant. More as I think of them. ---

A few more: **Polycarp** - Christian, generally well liked **dhkendall** - Christian, hates uncapitalized posts (but uncapitalized usernames are OK) **FriarTed** - also Christian. **Inigo Montoya** - writes surreal OP’s, and thread parodies. Once swallowed an expanding foam octopus in the name of science. **Santo Rugger** - still recovering. **Quasimodem** - has Alzheimers. Not to be confused with **Quasimodal** (which I do all the time). **Freudian Slit** - changed her name after she saw “Freudian slit” in a post. **Clothahump** - very right-wing **Freekalette** - lives in a full-time sub/dom relationship. Not to be confused with **Freckafree**. ---

I thought of some more things I know about dopers: **Cowgirl Jules** - water system operator who has forgotten more than I’ll ever know about the O & M of drinking water systems **lieu** - has posted a lot of poop threads **Skald** - lives near Memphis TN **Santo Rugger** - knows a lot about physics and is another explosives expert **Quasimodem** - was born in Germany but served the U.S. in Vietnam, loves beer, plays the guitar and lives in Georgia with his wife D. **jayjay** and **SuperVenusFreak** make a cute couple **fervour** - I think he and his partner live in a converted barn (maybe) **garygnu** - taught me a lot about photography **GusNSpot** - has a few motorcycles, dresses up as Santa and lives in Arkansas with **LadyMack** ---

[/The Jerk] I find that many of these threads have a self-selecting bias - there are some Dopers who I expect to see on this type of IMHO thread, some I know I won’t see, and a bunch in a gray area - sometimes they post in this type of thread or contribute to a Doper pic thread, but often don’t. I sometimes do, sometimes don’t. I have fallen into corresponding with a number of dopers intermittantly offline - no surprise, often about guitar geekiness, but not exclusively. Beyond that, I know the Big Voices out there on the Dope - folks like \*\*Skald, Argent, Sampiro, MeanOldLady, Nzinga, Sleeps \*\*(doesn’t start threads, but establishes her presence within them), \*\*RNATB, LOUNE \*\*- and countless others. I guess I group a bunch of you in a few ways: - \*\*Big Voice on the SDMB \*\*- start threads a lot, have an interesting/entertaining posting style, typically in on threads related to the actually Doper community (and almost always present in whacky / pile-on threads) - many of the names above fit in this category…\*\*Shot From Guns \*\*is moving in this direction with her wonderful contributions of late, especially in the “WTF is up with people who say “just kidding”?” thread… - \*\*Expert on the SDMB \*\*- folks like **Qadgop, Bricker, Stranger on a Train, Colibri, CalMeacham** and countless others - that have an established expertise IRL that informs their Doper reputation and/or posts - \*\*Drive By’s \*\*- folks who I don’t see often but pop up with a zinger of a line on threads. - \*\*SDMB Regulars \*\*- folks I see pretty regularly, but who don’t seem to go out of their way to establish a Big Presence on the SDMB. Other than geeking out about guitars, I would put myself in this category… I am sure there are other categories I use, but you get the idea… ---

Where I tend to think of them as focused on, well, a specific issue. This is different than an Expert, because the issue may be more personal, or not about expertise, per se…\*\*Equipoise’s \*\*passion for Happy Rhodes, \*\*Shayna’s \*\*focus on Obama, some folks with strong political views and, yes, some gay folks… ---

Well, in the other thread I said I was probably quite recognizable (50+), because my name is long and therefore distinctive, and I post a lot, everywhere… but my name has only popped up two or three times in this thread, so I was starting to wonder.
