Great thread idea, before some else says it I just have to add least likely: “Soylent Green is People!!!” At least the cannabism, I’ll throw the Mad Max stuff in there as pretty ridiculous too. There are definitely things from 1984 and Minority Report that seem to be on their way and things involving global warming from other books or movies. ---

Maybe if you live in the Middle East, I guess it would be plausible. A lot of countries there are pretty much theocracies already. ---

Soylent Green is questionable but Make Room, Make Room, the novel it is based on is quite realistic in its depiction of an over stuffed New York and world. In the book Soylent is just a mash of Soy and Lentils. The eating people stuff was only in the movie. ---

I’ve thought the first **Mad Max** movie did a great vision of showing civilization clinging to the edge of collapse, with free roaming gangs, poverty, and under-funded citizen vigilante police. **Rollerball** (the original) almost seems naively quaint now.
