Which forms of gout are curable? Or is gout simply manageble?

Agree. I think indomethacin is a NSAID, like ibuprofen. For me it gets rid of the stiffness and gouty joint pain for an acute situation, and is easier on the GI tract. While colchicine addresses the core issue better, I cannot be more than 30 feet from a toilet while taking it. I would have to be having a serious flare to consider doing that again.

Thanks CC. I’ve read that sweating during exercise dehydrates you, and can lead to kidney stones. What if you consume copious amounts of water as you exercise and sweat, does that negate the risk of forming kidney stones?

You are lucky. It upsets my stomach something fierce. No other pain reliever does that to me.

You can get dehydrated just sitting in front of your computer all day. I think there are lots of ways to tell if you are getting enough water - the one I use is just taking a look at my pee - if light in color: getting enough, if dark in color: need more water. Of course, as I age, I need to go more often, so I have several opportunities each day (and, sadly, at night occasionally) to check things out. I think the whole “your pee should be clear” may be overkill - you do not want to onboard too much water - that will introduce other problems, like washing out too much salt and other minerals you need to work properly.
