I voted Easter. The wife loved Easter candy while we were going to school in Hawaii. Later on, we visited the US during Easter and brought back a load for her family. It went over well, all except for the marshmallow peeps, which no one would touch because they thought they looked “evil.” We’ll be in the US at Easter time again this year and look forward to scoring some more.

This nice Jewish girl voted for Easter. Lots of variety, for one, and for another, some of the local churches make handmade eggs with peanut butter, buttercream, or coconut cream centers and sell them. Not that I’ve had any this year. (I just tell myself that, as a nice Jewish girl, I have no business eating Easter candy and Passover candy just sucks.)

Yeah man. I was scopin’ the Easter goodies at Walgreens today. Chocolate + everything imaginable in the shape of eggs, bunnies, coins, whatever. I’ll take it.
And…AND…Easter candy COMES TO YOU. Nobody has to go groveling for it door-to-door. (I am assuming “you” is a kid, natch)

Sees Giant Easter eggs. Nothing can top them, you never get anything like those in your TorT bag. I’d trade a years supply of candy corn for one of those lovely and tasty chocolate eggs. Not to mention the huge hollow bunny.

With the maror and all, I don’t think Passover candy is necessarily intended to be good.

Yeah, but often you have to hunt for it. I should’ve asked for a ghillie suit for Christmas so that the eggs _will_ come to me.
Easter is probably the best. But IMHO the absolute worst candy is that damn chocolate bunny. As a young child I didn’t want to “hurt it,” as I got older it got skipped in favor of better candy, and eventually found in October and tossed. Also, little kids tend to gum the hell out of it, so that it becomes a sloppy mess.

Oh, yes, Easter. Before I had to stop eating _anything that tastes good_, I would buy every year a huge chocolate-covered cocoanut egg. The kind with the chalk flower on top. I felt queasy after two bites, but dammit, I scarfed the whole thing down, if it \*killed \*me. Even the chalk flower.

Best in terms of variety? Halloween, hands down
Best in terms of quality? Valentine’s Day (I am thinking of the boxes of chocolates that pretty much every man is expected to get for “his woman” (or, in Japan, the other way around, for some reason))

My sister and I have lengthy discussions quite often on this topic. Easter wins hands down because the candy is so pretty. And Reese’s eggs are the best candy ever, although I will be buying a bag of Cadbury mini-eggs on Good Friday and eating the whole bag in one sitting. Christmas candy is righteous, but Easter candy is head and shoulders above all.

You’re clearly not picturing those horrid chalky hearts with cutesy sayings on them. I’ve got nothing against the sayings, mind, but the taste leaves something to be desired.

I’m pleased to see that Easter has pulled ahead of Halloween since I looked yesterday. The thing with Halloween is it’s so hit or miss. I recall years when the load I took home was really crappy. But Easter candy seems uniformly good. (I even like peeps.)

I don’t go out of my way for any candy except at Christmastime. There’s a wonderful candy cabin at the Christkindlemarket, where I stock up on treats from Germany that can’t be had here - at least not without some doing. It’s the only time I make an exception to avoiding candy with milk or gelatin in it - I just refuse to resist it and spend a bundle in there once a year. Plus - dark chocolate peppermint bark.
Sorry about Easter, but milk chocolate can be had anywhere, just in a different shape isn’t enough for me to care.

Hard for me to pin down which is the best - though I’m leaning towards Easter. There are items sold only at Easter which I eagerly anticipate each year (Dark Chocolate Cadbury Mini-Eggs). The only things I can think of manufactured specifically for Halloween are candy corn, which I wouldn’t miss if it didn’t exist, Resse’s Pumpkins that are easily replaced by Reese’s Eggs, and those molasses peanutbutter filling pullers in the orange and black waxed paper which the world does not need, at all.
Can we all agree that Arbor Day has the WORST candy?

Easter you get one box of candy, or maybe one bleeping chocolate rabbit. On Halloween you get a shopping bag full. Even if most of it turns out to be crap, it’s going to be at least a third solid gold and will lead you willingly down the yummy path toward diabetes.
