Oh dear - sometimes bad eyesight can be fun - I read the thread title as “which Mac to buRy”. I do hope no burying is needed.
That’s the big incentive for buying a new Mac from a third-party dealer, instead of Apple directly – everyone sells at about the same price, due to Apple’s “suggested retail price” guidelines, but the third parties are willing to throw in various freebies to get your business. Getting extra memory, a free printer, and a free laptop case is not something to sneeze at.
I’ve got an eMac, and I’m happy with it, but I’m not doing anything major-- the odd bit of sound and photo edting, in addition to the usual internet browsing, accounting, and writing.
The first extra RAM chip I got was incompatible, but since then everything has been smooth.
