I’d settle for [del]every[/del] any member of the Dallas Cowboys. Followed by any key member of the Philadelphia Eagles or New York Giants. In that order too. If I had to pick a single person I would like to see Jerry Jones get crushed by Terrell Owens’ massive ego. Or a falling Tuna.

Hail to the Redskins!
In honor of Big Ben Roethlisberger, I pose this question to football fans everywhere: Which player do you hope gets injured enough to have to sit out the season?

This came to mind when a local Seahawk fan did a dance of joy at the news that Ben had been sacked by an automobile. We all have players we hate, but do you hate them enough to wish bodily harm upon them?
Personally, there are few players I’ve disliked as much as Joe Theismann. As a good Irish Catholic kids, I loved him at Notre Dame, but learned to hate him as soon as I actually heard him talk for 10 seconds. Moreover, I was a big Giants fan, so I hated the Redskins. So, if there’s anyone I’d have liked to see get seriously injured, it was him.

Then I saw it happen, on “Monday Night Football.”

Sorry… I still recall how sickened I was, as If I’d watched it last night. So, while I’m still capable of hating certain players, there is NOBODY I could ever actively want to see seriously injured. NOBODY deserves what happened to Joe Theismann.

Each man’s injury diminishes me and all that crap, but a career-ender to Ray Lewis wouldn’t diminish me all \*that \* much.

Joey Porter.

But, I’d still rather see a retired Bill Romanowski get injured than any active player.

And, I don’t know why anyone would say Ray Lewis. If you can find a single cheap shot from him, or any classless gesture during any game, bring it. And I don’t mean his embarassing pre-game dance. He’s a model football player and teammate. He doesn’t even grandstand or show up his opponent as much as that paragon of virtue, Jerome Bettis.

And, I’m a Pats fan before I’m a Ravens fan. If anyone deserves to get thiesmanned, it’s Rodney Harrison.

Rodney Harrison’s already had his career-ender.

Drew Bledsoe.

I never thought he was all that great of a QB when he was playing for New England, and now he plays for Dallas. Even more incentive for me to think he sucks. Shouldn’t be too hard either, considering he’s about as light on his feet as Bill Parcells.

Brett, the correct answer was go, you INT-chucking, Vicodin-swilling, past-his-prime glory hound.
I have no ill will for Brett per se, but as a die-hard Cal fan, I want to see Aaron Rodgers succeed in the NFL (especially after Kyle Boller burst into flames) so that it reflects glory upon my alma mater.

So yeah, if Favre should happen to get lost on the way to the stadium and not show up all year…that would be great.

I prefer playing against the opposition’s A game.

That said, I wouldn’t mind a season-ending injury to Kelly Holcomb. C’mon, Marv, let J.P. play a whole season without being under constant threat of getting pulled. That QB carousel in Buffalo last year sucked ass.

With the same idea, whomever is backing up Alex Smith and Philip Rivers wouldn’t bum me out if they were to go down.

Hey, Rodgers will get his shot at some point and time, but I don’t think the local fans are going to be happy with whoever comes after Favre, right or wrong.

I mostly hope Shaun Alexander gets lost on the way to the stadium. I’m sick of hearing about him being the best back in the NFL. Put him behind Arizona’s line and he’s getting 800 yards, tops.

I’d wish it on Charles Rogers, but that would be redundant. I think if someone dropped a cotton ball on his shoulder, he’d dislocate it. With his lazy work ethic and his attitude and off the field behavior, he’s a disgrace to his alma mater (and mine), Michigan State and although I don’t want to really see anyone injured, if he were to get explosive diarrhea before every game this year I’d be quite pleased.

Leading to the inspiration for the Joe Theismann pencil sharpener as seen on _Late Night With David Letterman_ where the turn crank was Theismann’s leg/ankle. 😃
As for the OP, I’ll send MaddMax’s suggestion that T.O. and Jerry Jones each be injured, perhaps in a freak accident at Texas Stadium with them both being crushed by a falling Nike Shoes billboard.

I remember when Travis Henry and Willis McGahee were both whining to the media about splitting carries in Buffalo, and one of them demanded a trade. On NFL Live they were crucifying him for that, and someone said the Bills should trade him to the team with the worst OL in football. When asked who that might be – this was just before the 2004 season, IIRC – they thought for a minute and then said: the Giants.

Tiki Barber then set the franchise record for most yards in a season that year behind the “worst OL in football.” While I’d argue about them being the worst, or even bad, it is inarguable that they are undersized and unable to move the line in short yardage situations. This necessitates having a specialized “short yardage” back in the form of Brandon Jacobs.

Put Alexander behind the undersized Giants line playing against the defenses of the NFC East, and then put Tiki on the Seahawks playing against the NFC West, and there is no way in a million years Alexander outrushes Tiki by 20 yards. Barber would approach 2000, while Alexander would be lucky to crack four digits.

Sounds like the same Barry Sanders vs. Emmitt Smith argument I’ve trumpeted.

I don’t know if I buy that in your case, though. I’ve never seen a huge problem with the Giants offensive line. I always thought them slightly underrated.
(how many years have they been playing together?)

I don’t see enough of Mr. Alexander to have a great argument for it. I abstain.
