Which of the Seinfeld Four was most famous BEFORE the show?

Michael Richards played a sleazy conman on “Cheers” who got a drunken Sam to bet the bar that he could get Jacqueline Bisset to marry him by a certain date.

He also played a fairly straight role on “St. Elsewhere” as a sleazy t.v. producer who does a hatchet job documentary on Dr. Craig, then hired Dr. Erllich to give tasteless “medical advice” bits on the evening news.

Louis-Dreyfuss was a member of two casts of SNL – the first was mediocre (Mary Gross, Joe Piscopo, etc.) , the second cast was brilliant (Billie Crystal, Martin Short, etc.) But in both years, she was always saddled with playing the straight role to the male cast members. The only regular character I can remember her playing was as one of the members of an inept superhero team – she could change the temperature but only by 4 or 5 degrees at a time. (Don’t bother trying to remember it, it wasn’t a good sketch.)

That sketch was “The Interesting Four”. As I recall, Brad Hall played The Human Stapler.

Julia had at least one other recurring character I can think of: Consuela. You might remember her hanging out with her friend Chi-Chi (Mary Gross).

She had some great one-shot skits, too. One of my favorites was the host of a talk show called “Inside Out”. She was, erm, rather easily surprised, and tended to spit coffee on her guests.

I seem to remember her and Gary Kroeger playing Donny & Marie making out during a song, tongues and all.
