He did explain Disney not Pixar. If Pixar, he would be missing many great movies.

\*\*Alladin \*\*& **Fantasia 2000** are the pair missing for me. I’m surprised **Fantasia** is not #1, it is currently running 2nd to **Beauty and the Beast**.

So someone should do a Pixar poll now.

I hadn’t thought about it but reading that list made me realize all of the older ones have lost their appeal to me.

IMHO the older ones mostly haven’t aged well.

_Dumbo_, _Robin Hood_, _The Sword in the Stone_, and _Winnie-the-Pooh_. All seen on broadcast TV. _Dumbo_ is the one I am most fond of.

Growing up, movies in general and Disney specifically were not a part of my childhood. When I was 8 I had a _The Black Cauldron_ theater birthday party, but neither the movie nor the party were particularly memorable.

I’ve seen all of the recent CG Disney movies, but I’ve seen shockingly few of the the older, classic animated films. Aside from the above mentioned, I’ve seen just _Alice in Wonderland_ and _Fantasia_, and neither even in one sitting.

I’m happy to see that The Emperor’s New Groove is doing well, but Hercules deserves way more love.

**The Black Cauldron** had a troubled history. I recall reading about it being in production in 1977 in a New York Times Sunday Magazine article, but the film didn’t actually get released until 1985, at least five years after its planned date. There were a lot of changes and clashes over creative differences, and Lloyd Alexander, who wrote the original book, was very displeased with the result (as a lot of authors who sold to Disney have been).

I had high hopes for it based on what I originally saw, but the product was disappointing. _Lord of the Rings_ it wasn’t. Nor was it _Chronicles of Prydain_.
Disney apparently wanted to forget about it, too. It’s had some half-hearted releases on home video. When we were at the Disney Parks we saw an attraction clearly based on the movie, but not labeled or identified as such. as far as I know, they never did a sequel, a spinoff, a video game, or comic based on it.

Adore Dumbo. I love love love the score. When I see an elephant fly, indeed.
I cry every single time. The animation of Dumbo himself, who never speaks, is so good.

The Emperor’s New Groove is one of my top ten favorite movies of all time!

Add another “would have voted” for Aladdin.

_The Emperor’s New Groove_ is one of the funniest movies ever made.

And another ghost-vote for _Aladdin_.

I have seen nearly every movie on the list, but only voted for my favorites.

ETA: And thanks for not including any of the garbage sequels!

Tarzan is a very underrated movie, it never got the hype of other ones (I suspect because it didn’t follow the traditional princess/royal family formula). My daughter has fallen in love with it, and I have to admit I dig it too.

Bummed Brave didn’t make the list, but I looked it up and was surprised to see it was Pixar. But that one is great.

I couldn’t vote for my top favorite, as it’s not on the list. There are several Disney Winnie the Pooh films. None of them are just called “Winnie the Pooh”.

Winnie the Pooh and the Hunny Tree is by far the gold standard by which the others are judged.

“Here’s my card, I’m not in the book, you know.”

(It’s true. Gopher wasn’t in the book.)

Hey, blatant racism and ethnic cultural appropriation are all part of the “Disney Magic.” Always has been, and by 2017 still nothing’s changed. Their biggest problem is running out of cultures and ethnicities to exploit.

I guess I have middlin’ Disney tastes as almost all of my choices fall within the 25 to 35 vote range. Except for Big Hero 6. I’m not surprised since it seems not a lot of people saw it. Also, I too would have picked Aladdin.

Dumbo is the answer to a cool piece of Disney Trivia: Who is the only title character of a Disney film that never speaks.

OP did say “theatrical”, has Disney ever released a sequel in theaters that isn’t a Pixar movie?

[Did pretty good as a whole globally](http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=disney2014.htm). I like it, just not enough to be in the very top of the list.

_Return to Neverland_ got a theatrical release.

Besides missing _Aladdin_, the list also lacks the “package films,” _Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time_, and _The Adventurers of Ichabod and Mr. Toad_.

As a Disney Animation aficionado, I checked off pretty much all the ones I don’t think are terrible (Aristocats, Fox & the Hound, etc) and ones I haven’t bothered to watch (Hoke on the Range, Brother Bear).
