Okay, this is not a list of every single movie scheduled to be released between now and the end of the year. These are just the 44 most high profile, Oscar-buzzworthy titles, as well as stuff I thought sounded interesting. Which of these are YOU most interested in seeing? Poll to follow. _God Help the Girl_ - Emily Browning of _Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events_ stars in an indie-pop musical rom-com. _The Longest Week_ - Jason Bateman plays a spoiled rich kid who gets evicted and disinherited and falls in love in the space of a week. _My Old Lady_ - Kevin Kline as a penniless American who inherits an apartment in France, but finds that he cannot evict his tenant (Dame Maggie Smith) and her daughter (Kristin Scott Thomas). _The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them_ - James MacAvoy being unreasonably charming… again _The Drop_ - Tom Hardy crime drama _Dr. Cabbie_ - young Indian doctor comes to America and has to work as a cabbie. _Hector and the Search for Happiness_ - Simon Pegg plays a psychiatrist who leaves home to search for happiness in Tibet. _Pride_ - Bill Nighy; gays and lesbians support striking coal miners in 1980s Wales _The Skeleton Twins_ - Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader play estranged twins; straight drama _Tusk_ - Kevin Smith horror comedy about a man tortured into becoming a walrus…? You heard it here first, folks! _Believe Me_ - four broke college students embezzle a lot of money _Plastic_ - two con artists scam the wrong man and bad things happen _The Two Faces of January_ - Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst are con artists and bad things happen _Gone Girl_ - Ben Affleck’s wife disappears and he is a suspect _The Good Lie_ - Reese Witherspoon and some Sudanese refugees _Automata_ - sci-fi thriller; in a world filled with working robots, Antonio Banderas is an insurance agent who has to investigate a case involving the manipulation of a robot. Go look up the trailer ASAP. _The Judge_ - Robert Downey, Jr. is a cutthroat attorney who is estranged from his father, a judge, played by Robert Duvall, who is accused of murder. _Birdman_ - Michael Keaton plays a has-been actor who decides to mount a Broadway play. Again, go check out the trailer. _Camp X-Ray_ - Kristen Stewart is a young soldier at Guantanamo Bay _Dear White People_ - satire of racial politics “in the Obama age.” I wonder if this will be rescheduled in the wake of Ferguson. _Dracula Untold_ - Welsh actor Luke Evans stars in the Dracula origin story _Fury_ - Brad Pitt World War II story; Fury is his tank _Laggies_ - Keira Knightley refuses to grow up and ends up hanging out with Chloe Grace Moretz _Love, Rosie_ - rom-com about a young woman who leaves Ireland for the U.S.; two best friends may be falling in love _St. Vincent_ - Bill Murray plays the cranky, misanthropic old war vet next door, Again, go check out the trailer. _Horns_ - Daniel Radcliffe’s girlfriend dies under mysterious circumstances and he is a suspect. Then he grows Satanic-looking goat horns out of his forehead. For real. Go check out the trailer. Based on a book. _Mr. Turner_ - biopic of painter J.M.W. Turner _Nightcrawler_ - Jake Gyllenhaal is desperate for work and becomes an increasingly morally suspect crime “journalist.” Check out the trailer. _Big Hero 6_ - animated action comedy about a boy and his inflatable robot. You’ve already seen the trailer. _The Homesman_ - Hilary Swank and Tommy Lee Jones in a period Western. Looks interesting. Go check out the trailer. _Interstellar_ - Earth is desperate for water, and Matthew McConaughey goes into space to find a wormhole. _Rosewater_ - This is the movie about Maziar Bahari, the journalist who was detained in Iran for more than 100 days because of an interview he gave on _The Daily Show_ in 2009. This movie was directed by Jon Stewart. _The Theory of Everything_ - biopic of Stephen Hawking _The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1_ - Oh, you know, or you couldn’t care less. _The Imitation Game_ - Benedict Cumberbatch plays Alan Turing, so… Sherlock Holmes in World War II, I guess? _The Penguins of Madagascar_ - Benedict Cumberbatch an an arctic fox _Wild_ - Reese Witherspoon takes a 1,100 mile trek _Exodus: Gods and Kings_ - Christian Bale as Moses _The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies_ _Annie_ - It’s a hard-knock life for us. Oh, now you’ve got that tune in your head. Ha ha! _The Interview_ - Celebrity journalists Seth Rogen and James Franco are sent to North Korea to assassinate Kim Jong-un. _Into the Woods_ - musical fantasy based on the Broadway show with Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp _Paddington_ - a small mischievous bear in London _Unbroken_ - an Olympic runner goes to war and ends up in a Japanese POW camp, and bad things happen; directed by Angelina Jolie ---

The only one of those I’m even remotely interested in is _The Homesman_, and that’s mostly just 'cuz it’s a western. Movies coming out later this year I am interested in: PT Anderson’s adaptation of _Inherent Vice_, and, maybe, Clint Eastwood’s adaptation of _American Sniper_. ---

Most of those, I’ve never heard of until now, and the only one I think I’m even likely to see is _The Hobbit_. Which had better be better than the second one. ---

\*\*Birdman \*\*for sure, it looks [fucking incredible](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-efiEOb2qEU) and should get **Michael Keaton** an easy Oscar nod. Same with [Foxcatcher](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1100089/)(not on the list to vote for). It should definitely earn **Steve Carrel** a lot of awards attention. If you’ve seen the trailer, he’s almost unrecognizable [playing John du Pont](http://imageserver.moviepilot.com/-816d9954-a014-43e1-a050-62799bfa003b.jpeg?width=2500&height=1600). ---

I think I recognized the names of two of those, maybe three. I’m still working on my Netflix list and movies that came out between 3 and 10 years ago. ---

I marked off three, since I’m sure I’ll NetFlix those eventually. The only one I plan to see in a theater is The Hobbit. ---

_Gone Girl_ and _Unbroken_ for sure. I would also see _Birdman_ and _Wild_. Both Michael Keaton and Reese Witherspoon are getting Oscar buzz for their performances in those films. I will probably also check out _Rosewater_ to see how Jon Stewart does as a director. ---

_The Imitation Game_ sounds interesting. Alan Turing’s story is more than “Sherlock in the War.” Might make an effort for the _Hobbit_ film–for the visuals, at least… ---

Before reading the list I thought “Birdman.” A friend if mine did some background acting in it and shared the trailer. I will make an effort to see it in the theater. There are a few titles listed that I recognize, mostly from series, but am not compelled to see. The rest are mysteries. It makes me a little sad. I love movies, and would like to go to more of them. I used to pay a lot of attention to what was out there, and seeing movies I saw most of the trailers. That is no longer the case. ---

Of those listed, the only ones I’m interested enough to see are Hobbit III, Horns, and Mocking Jay. I’ve seen trailers for a lot of the others and I’m not very impressed. ---
