I’ll go with the “The Moderator speaks” or anything else that isn’t simply the word “Moderating” in bold face when actual moderating is taking place. ---

Only “warm regards” should be considered warm. “Regards” by itself indicates a sense of esteem (aka high regard), or with affection. “Best regards” indicates the best (of the highest) esteem, or the best of affection. For example, I could disagree with the member I’m replying to, but that doesn’t mean I hold them in any but the highest regard. I like the regards. I used to think it was annoying; but now I have a certain degree of respect for it. It’s like one of those things that just will never die despite being despised, hated mocked and ridiculed. And the consistency is remarkable - I’ve never once seen that poster post without that at the end - _not a single post._ ---

Although a bit of a blight, it’s something permanent and unchanging in an uncertain and troubled world. Rather like an unsightly mole on a favourite great aunt’s chin, who despite many hints and much encouragement, refuses to have it removed. ---
