I need to call this out as it is a good example of trying to establish “camaraderie of the accused” An attempt to push a narrative that those who oppose them are out to silence those with centrist beliefs and is false. Any claim that there is a central or coordinated “intent” for Antifa is coming from someone who is completely ignorant on what Antifa even is. ---

I replied earlier in this thread to the effect that the synagogue shooter had obviously been inspired by documented right wing conspiracy theories and he apparently didn’t seem interested in rebutting the charge. Conservatives want to just claim that they’re just conservatives, but they can’t stand it when someone points out that the meaning of conservatism has apparently changed from what it used to be. Conservative voters are more than just ignorant or single-issue voters - they know what they’re voting for, and they seem to have no problem with it. I don’t mean that all conservatives are racists, antisemitic, or anti-whatever; they just don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s not a big deal if white politicians use racist tactics to deprive minorities of the right to vote or deprive asylum seekers of the right to seek asylum. It doesn’t affect conservatives, so it doesn’t matter. And unfortunately, I’m also seeing that it doesn’t necessarily matter to people who don’t even think of themselves as conservatives. I see it in independents as well. It’s indifference. It’s indifference that really puts authoritarian regimes over the top. It was indifference that allowed Nazism to rise, and it has allowed other awful things since. ---
