I also remember a bunch of Republicans staging an armed [takeover and occupation of a wildlife preserve](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Occupation_of_the_Malheur_National_Wildlife_Refuge) in Oregon, with a significant amount of property and environmental damage. But that was for a noble cause and doesn’t count, I suppose. ---

I’m thinking of the mobs of astroturfed Tea Partiers that were bussed to town hall meetings to screech and shriek down candidates or office holders trying to have a conversation. Or maybe the hordes of Republican lawyers that descended (by bus) on the 2000 ballot re-counting in Florida to gum up the process. It was known as the [The Brooks Brothers Riot](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooks_Brothers_riot). ---

This was latched onto by a gang of nitwits when that hack lady said it, but it’s true. What do you think research and scholarship is for? One scholar uncovers a fact and publishes it. There was the first standoff where the government was trying to remove Bundy’s cattle from federal land, and the second standoff where folks took over the wildlife refuge in Oregon.
