I was surprised by the Einstein/Darwin poll. I would have expected a few more votes for Darwin. ---

[I was amazed at that 80% of people would save a human baby over a healthy baby panda.](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=675772) You might not think this is strange but it was a followup to a thread where a significant proportion of people would save a pet dog over a human stranger. ---

IIRC, a “How do you feel about the prospect of eating synthetic meat?” poll was about 10% grossed out vs. 90% enthusiastic. ---

The most surprising one for me was [this poll I made on how much you liked to be tickled](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=539318&highlight=tickled). I expected a typical bell curve, perhaps at worst a “dromedary” curve with two humps in the middle of the “like” and “dislike” regions perhaps (since tickling is something that you either like or dislike, presumed that there would be no middle ground-that much I figured at least). I never expected in my wildest dreams to see 54% of the votes for the “hated it the most option”, nor to find out that only ~10% liked it at all (I myself voted +3, and actually miss having my deceased father of 14 years this month not being around to tickle me anymore, something he did with relish). Some people got on my case and said I should have added a “This is the most vile activity in the universe and if ever am subjected to it again it will be too soon” category. Same planet different worlds I guess. ---

There was a poll that asked people about their wiping habits. I was shocked to find out so many women wipe back to front, I wouldn’t have guessed anyone actually did that. ---
