What, specifically, should one read to find out leftist attitudes toward Jews? What’s anti-semitic in it?
Hard-left organs of opinion (Counterpunch, Mondoweiss, etc), people like George Galloway and Noam Chomsky, etc. It’s anti-Semitic because it questions the patriotism and rights of Jews for being Jews (or having a Jewish name or someone thinking they’re Jews) and subscribes to shopworn tropes about a secret cabal of Jews running the world, etc.
Perhaps I’m not as well-versed in antisemitism as I should be, but the majority of “secret cabal” nonsense that I hear seems to come from the radical Right.
Well, horseshoe theory: the far right and the far left are working from the same playbook, even with different goals. And leftists distrust people who control lots of money, which in the popular imagination means Jews.
Criticizing Isreal doesn’t make a person anti-semitic. It’s just easier to make accusations of bigotry than to try to defend apartheid and relentless territorial aggression.
John Edwards was mentioned in passing but he’s a candidate here. His sex scandal ended what was a promising political career.
I don’t think anyone said anything about Israel? In any case, I was just trying to answer a question directed at me, not derail this thread into a discussion of anti-Semitism.
